Therefore, the goal of teaching speaking skills is communicative efficiency. In order to achieve the goal, many methods and techniques are applied including role play method. This research aims to analyze how to implement role play in teaching speaking English based on the previous research. This study applied a library research, which is part of qualitative research. Data were collected through undergraduate thesis, thesis, and journal articles published in 2014 to 2023. The data were analyzed using content analysis based on Harmer (2007). There are ten scientific writings from Susilo (2014), Hidayanti (2015), Sholikah (2017), Agustiningrum (2019), Sholiha (2020), Tumada et al. (2020), Marwa (2020), Arifin (2021), Farisya (2022), and Magfirah (2022). Some researchers refer to expert recommendations using role play by Harmer (2007), Lewin (1990), and Kemmis and Mc Taggart (1988) procedure. The results of the study show that the implementation of role play is effective in improving students speaking skills because students take a new identity and learn to use a foreign language students for every day interaction. Besides that, role play technique is ineffective in teaching speaking skills because of some factors for some students and teacher. Students and teachers using the role play technique to develop and teach speaking skills should prioritize preparation, participation, and reflection. To get the most out of the learning experience, students should actively participate in the scenarios, taking on their roles with excitement and originality. They should also be receptive to comments and willing to practice frequently in order to enhance their fluency and confidence. Teachers should carefully select or create role play scenarios that are both relevant and demanding, with clear directions and enough support.</p>2024-11-22T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2024 Rengganis Rekhavitri, Konder Manurung, Zarkiani Hasyim, Mukrim Mukrimhttps://jurnalfkipuntad.com/index.php/elts/article/view/3822THE IMPLEMENTATION OF PROJECT BASED LEARNING IN IMPROVING READING COMPREHENSION OF THE ELEVENTH GRADE STUDENTS OF SMA NEGERI 2 SIGI2024-11-22T01:30:36+00:00Fitriani Fitrianifitrianiftr5@gmail.comRofiqoh Rofiqahfitrianiftr5@gmail.comAnjar Kusuma Dewifitrianiftr5@gmail.comMukrim Mukrimfitrianiftr5@gmail.com<p>The objective of this research is to prove whether the implementation of Project Based Learning (PjBL) can improve reading comprehension of the eleventh-grade students of SMA Negeri 2 Sigi. This research used a quasi-experimental research design that consisted of two groups: an experimental and control groups. The sample was selected using a purposive sampling technique. The sample of this research was 58 eleventh-grade students of SMA Negeri 2 Sigi, 28 students from class XI IPA 2 as the experimental group, and 30 students from class XI IPA 1 as the control group. The data were collected through pre-test and post-test. Data were analyzed using a t-test to compare the experimental and control groups' pre-test and post-test mean scores. The mean score pre-test for the experimental group was 63.93 and the control group was 66.58. Then, the mean score of the students' post-test score for the experimental group was 74.73, and the control group was 71.33. By applying 0.05, level of significance, it is found that the t-counted value (4.56) is higher than the t-table value (1.673). Therefore, the research hypothesis is accepted. This result indicates that the implementation of PjBL in this study effectively improved the students’ reading comprehension. The implication of these findings is that in teaching reading, teachers can apply the PjBL method during the teaching and learning process as one of the effective methods to improve students' reading comprehension.</p>2024-11-22T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2024 Fitriani Fitriani, Rofiqoh Rofiqah, Anjar Kusuma Dewi, Mukrim Mukrimhttps://jurnalfkipuntad.com/index.php/elts/article/view/3823DEVELOPING VOCABULLARY MASTERY OF GRADE SEVEN STUDENTS OF SMPN 6 PALU THROUGH CARTOON MOVIES2024-11-22T02:14:25+00:00Thalita Putri Widyaningrumthalitaputiwidyaingrum@gmail.comMukrim Mukrimthalitaputiwidyaingrum@gmail.comAfrillia Anggrenithalitaputiwidyaingrum@gmail.com<p>The purpose of this research is to determine if the use of cartoon movies can develop the vocabulary mastery of grade seven students of SMPN 6 Palu.
