Abstract

This study aims to describe the metacognitive skills profile of SMA Negeri 1 Bambalamotu students in solving geometry transformation problems in terms of gender. The subject of this study consisted of two students, namely one female student (HP) and one male student (YQ) with equivalent mathematical abilities. The results of this study indicate that HP makes predictions of temporary answers by sketching pictures based on information on the problem before starting to work on solving the problem, HP does planning by setting goals, making plans for completion by writing down the workflow steps, and sequencing the steps to be taken to complete problem, HP monitors each step of work, formula operation, and calculations by crossing off and replacing on the answer sheet when solving problems, HP assesses the results of investigations, achievement of objectives, conformity of procedures, and draws conclusions on the results of its investigation after solving problems. YQ predicts a temporary answer by making a sketch of a picture before starting to work on solving the problem, YQ does planning by setting goals, then making a completion plan, and sequencing the steps to be carried out to solve the problem, YQ monitors each step of the process, formula operations, and calculations after solving the problem, YQ assesses the results of the investigation, achievement of goals, appropriateness of the procedure, and explains the conclusions on the results of his investigation after solving the problem, but he does not write the conclusion in detail at the end of his completion.
