Abstract

This study aims to identify the effectiveness of cognitive behaviour counselling services with mindfulness techniques to reduce student academic stress at SMA Negeri 3 Palu, the subjects in this study were 16 students and divided into 2 groups, namely the control and experimental groups. The data collection instrument in this study was a scale of students' academic stress level. The data that has been obtained is processed and analysed using descriptive and inferential methods with the mann whitney u test formula. The results of the descriptive analysis showed that before being given cognitive behaviour counselling services with mindfulness techniques there were 8 students from the experimental group having high levels of academic stress while 8 students from the control group had low levels of academic stress. After being given cognitive behaviour counselling services with mindfulness techniques there were 2 students from the experimental group with a low academic stress level classification and 6 students from the experimental group with a moderate academic stress level classification. While the control group did not have significant changes because they were not given cognitive behaviour group counselling services with mindfulness techniques. The results of inferential analysis show that the significance value is 0.00 and the value is <0.05, meaning that cognitive behaviour group counselling services with mindfulness techniques are effective in reducing students' academic stress levels at SMA Negeri 3 Palu
