Abstract

This study aims to describe the procedure of project based learning in science learning in grade V of SD Negeri 1 Tatura and the critical and creative thinking skills of grade V students of SD Negeri 1 Tatura through project based learning. This study is an experimental study of pretest-posttest control group design on 25 students of class VA consisting of 11 females and 15 males as the experimental group and 25 students of class VC consisting of 13 females and 12 males as the control group. Data analysis was carried out through statistical tests: normality test, homogeneity test and Mann Whitney test. The results of the study indicate that: (1) the PjBL model is able to empower students' critical thinking skills in science learning in grade V of SD Negeri 1 Tatura and (2) the PjBL model is able to empower students' creative thinking skills in science learning in grade V of SD Negeri 1 Tatura. Critical thinking and creative thinking skills from learning practices using the PjBL model have a significant impact on achieving optimal science learning outcomes.
