Abstract

This study aims to improve student learning outcomes and determine the ability of teacher management in learning through the Problem Based Learning Model in the Civics Class IX subject at SMP Negeri 7 Menui Satap. This type of research is Classroom Action Research (CAR) which consists of two cycles. The research plan refers to the Kemmis and Mc Taggart model, namely: 1) Planning stage, 2) Action implementation, 3) Observation, 4) Reflection. The research subjects for class IX at SMP Negeri 7 Menui Satap amounted to 30 students. Data collection techniques in this study using observation, tests and documentation. The results of the research conducted in the first cycle showed that of the 30 students who took the test there were 18 students who did not complete so that the percentage of mastery learning reached 40% and the presentation of absorption reached 69.46%. This has not reached the standard of completeness that has been set so it must be corrected in cycle II. The results of the research conducted in the second cycle increased where from 30 students who took the test only 3 students who did not complete and 27 students who completed so that the presentation of learning completeness reached 90% and the percentage of absorption reached 80.83%. This increase in learning outcomes has reached the specified standard of completeness, namely classical learning completeness of 85%, while classical absorption of 70%. So it can be concluded that learning by using Problem-Based Learning Model can improve student learning outcomes
