Improving Number Writing Skills in Mathematics Lessons by Using Number Cards for Grade II Students of SD Inpres 1 Talise

Abstract: This study aims to improve the number writing skills of second grade students through the application of number card media. This study uses the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method which is carried out in two cycles, where each cycle consists of the planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. The subjects of the study were second grade students of SD Inpres 1 Talise. Data in this study were collected through observation and interviews. The data collected were analyzed descriptively qualitatively and quantitatively. The indicator of success in this study was the achievement of 80% of students' completeness which showed a good increase in number writing skills. The results showed that the application of number card media significantly improved students' number writing skills. At the pre-cycle stage, the average number writing skills of students only reached 45%. After the application of number card media in Cycle I, the average number writing skills increased to 70%. Further improvement occurred in Cycle II, with the average number writing skills of students reaching 90%. Each indicator of number writing skills showed a consistent increase from the pre-cycle to Cycle II. The conclusion of this study is that the application of number card media can improve students' number writing skills in mathematics learning. This study recommends that teachers use number cards more often in the learning process, and schools provide adequate support for the implementation of the media. Further research is expected to explore the long-term impact of using number cards on students' number writing skills
