Abstract

This classroom action research aims to improve students' classroom activity through the application of competitive group quizzes. The research was conducted in two cycles, each including planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects were students of Class XI at SMA Negeri 2 Palu. Data were collected using observation sheets and questionnaires, and analyzed both qualitatively and quantitatively. The success indicator was that 80% of students demonstrated high activeness. Results showed a significant increase in student activity: from 46% in the pre-cycle, to 69% in Cycle I, and finally 90% in Cycle II. Indicators such as participation in discussions, responding to questions, enthusiasm, collaboration, and engagement with materials showed marked improvement. It is concluded that competitive group quizzes significantly enhance students’ activeness in learning.
