Jurnal Pendidikan Dasar (Dikdas) was established in 2013 (Volume 1, Issue 1) as a peer-reviewed academic journal dedicated to advancing research, innovation, and best practices in primary education. The journal provides an open scholarly platform for researchers, academics, and practitioners to disseminate original research articles, theoretical studies, and empirical findings relevant to primary education at national and international levels.

The journal is published biannually, with issues released in May and December. Since its inception, Dikdas has maintained a consistent publication schedule, demonstrating its commitment to sustainability and timeliness in scholarly communication. By 2022, the journal had reached Volume 10, reflecting its continuity and contribution to the academic community.

In late 2022, the journal experienced a major disruption due to a cyberattack that affected the university’s journal hosting system, resulting in temporary loss of access to its digital archives. The journal successfully restored its platform in early 2024, ensuring the recovery of its publishing system and reaffirming its commitment to open access and digital preservation.

As part of its continuous quality improvement, on April 21, 2026, Jurnal Pendidikan Dasar (Dikdas) implemented a comprehensive revision of its article template and Letter of Acceptance (LoA). These updates were undertaken to strengthen editorial governance and to align with national accreditation standards (SINTA) and international publishing best practices. The revised template enhances manuscript structure, standardizes formatting, and improves metadata quality to support discoverability and indexing.

In addition, the updated LoA format ensures greater transparency, accountability, and formal recognition of manuscript acceptance by including standardized publication details and official editorial validation. This development supports authors’ academic and professional requirements while reinforcing the journal’s credibility.

The journal operates under a rigorous double-blind peer-review process, adheres to international publication ethics, and applies digital publishing standards to ensure accessibility, archiving, and long-term preservation. Through these ongoing improvements, Jurnal Pendidikan Dasar (Dikdas) aims to strengthen its academic reputation and expand its visibility in reputable indexing databases such as DOAJ and Scopus.

With a strong commitment to quality, integrity, and accessibility, the journal continues to serve as a reliable source of scholarly knowledge in primary education and contributes to the global exchange of educational research.
