ANALISIS KEMAMPUAN KOMUNIKASI MATEMATIS SISWA KELAS VIII SMP NEGERI 19 PALU DALAM MEMAHAMI VOLUME BALOK

Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa kelas VIII  SMP Negeri 19 Palu dalam memahami volume balok. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif. Subjek penelitian dipilih berdasarkan nilai rapor matematika semester ganjil. Subjek penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini sebanyak tiga siswa yang dipilih dari 21 siswa yaitu masing-masing satu siswa berkemampuan tinggi, satu siswa berkemampuan sedang dan satu siswa berkemampuan rendah. Hasil penelitian ini adalah  (1) subjek berkemampuan tinggi dalam memahami volume balok mencapai tiga indikator kemampuan komunikasi matematis yaitu menyatakan permasalahan matematika yang berkaitan dengan volume balok dalam bentuk gambar, menyatakan permasalahan yang diberikan kedalam bentuk model matematika yang berbentuk persamaan serta menyelesaikannya dan menyatakan suatu gambar menjadi ide atau masalah matematika yang berkaitan dengan volume balok dan dapat diselesaikan permasalahan tersebut, (2) subjek berkemampuan sedang dalam memahami volume balok mencapai dua indikator kemampuan komunikasi matematis yaitu menyatakan permasalahan matematika yang berkaitan dengan volume balok dalam bentuk gambar dan menyatakan suatu gambar menjadi ide atau masalah matematika yang berkaitan dengan volume balok dan dapat diselesaikan permasalahan tersebut dan (3) subjek berkemampuan rendah dalam memahami volume balok mencapai satu indikator kemampuan komunikasi matematis yaitu menyatakan permasalahan matematika yang berkaitan dengan volume balok dalam bentuk gambar.

Abstract: The objective of this research is to describe the mathematical communication skills of VIII grade student at SMP Negeri 19 Palu in understanding the beam volume. This research is a qualitative research. Subjects selected based on the score of math in first semester. Subject of this research is three students selected from 21 students that each of them are a high ability student, an intermediate ability student and a low-ability student. The results of this research were (1) the subject with high-ability in understanding the volume of the beam has reached three indicators of the ability of mathematical communication that is stated mathematical problems related to the volume of beams in picture form, stating the problems given in the form of mathematical models in the form of equations and solve them and expresses a picture be an idea or mathematical problems related to the volume of beams and can be solved the problem, (2) the subject with intermediate ability in understanding the volume of the beam has reached two indicators of the ability of mathematical communication that is stated mathematical problems related to the volume of the beam in the form of pictures and states of a picture ideas or mathematical problems related to the volume of beams and can be solved these problems, and (3) the subject with low ability in the understanding of the volume of the beam has reached an indicator of the ability of mathematical communications that expressed mathematical problems related to the volume of the beam in the form of picture.
