Review Guidelines
Role of Peer Reviewers
Participation in the peer-review process is essential to the success and reputation of Jurnal Pendidikan Dasar (Jurnal Dikdas). Together with the editors, reviewers determine which submissions meet standards of quality and significance. Given the journal’s readership, the research and scholarship published will ultimately influence the field of primary education, both nationally and internationally.
As a peer reviewer, your task is to provide constructive and critical feedback on the manuscript content, collaborating with the editors in verifying whether the work is of scientific and educational value and complies with the journal’s standards of excellence. Once you are accepted as a reviewer, your name will be listed on the journal’s webpage, and a confirmation letter can be provided upon request. The editorial board warmly welcomes you to join us as a Reviewer.
Expectations from Reviewers
Reviewers are expected to provide a general assessment of the manuscript’s impact, emphasizing the probability of the article contributing significantly and sustainably to educational research areas relevant to the journal.
- Subject: The central theme of the manuscript must be relevant to education, specifically primary education, and have broader academic value.
- Style: The review must be written objectively, using direct quotations from the manuscript or references to support arguments. The journal requires the APA citation style, with in-text citations corresponding to references in the bibliography.
- Originality: Manuscripts must demonstrate originality and scholarly relevance.
- Structure: Manuscripts should include the essential components of a scientific paper: abstract, introduction, method, results and discussion, and conclusion.
Responsibilities of Reviewers
Reviewers should:
- Accept review invitations only when the manuscript matches their expertise.
- Review submitted work responsibly, impartially, and within the agreed timeframe.
- Report any suspected ethical misconduct as part of an honest review.
- Avoid offensive or unnecessarily harsh language in their comments.
- Seek clarification from the editor if anything is unclear before or during the review process.
- Commit to reviewing revised versions if requested, providing follow-up feedback as needed.
- Maintain clear communication with the editor and publisher throughout the process.
Requirements to Become a Reviewer
- Strong academic interest in primary education or related fields.
- Hold a doctoral degree or be a recognized expert in education.
- Be affiliated with a university or academic institution in a teaching or research role.
- Demonstrate proficiency in academic and professional English (or Indonesian, depending on submission language).
- Work efficiently and meet review deadlines with accuracy.
Editorial Decision Categories in Jurnal Dikdas
The following categories are used to classify manuscripts after peer review:
- Accept: The article is suitable for publication in its current form.
- Minor Revision: The article requires small revisions; the editor will verify the changes.
- Major Revision – Resubmit for Review: The article has potential but requires significant revisions. The revised version will undergo another round of review.
- Decline Submission: The article is not suitable for publication in Jurnal Pendidikan Dasar (Jurnal Dikdas).
