PENERAPAN METODE PENEMUAN TERBIMBING UNTUK MENINGKATKAN HASIL BELAJAR SISWA PADA MATERI TEOREMA PYTHAGORAS DI KELAS VIII SMP NEGERI 9 PALU

Abstract

ABSTRAK: Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mendeskripsikan penerapan metode penemuan terbimbing yang dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa pada materi Teorema Pythagoras di kelas VIII B SMP Negeri 9 Palu. Subjek pada penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 9 Palu. Desain penelitian ini mengacu pada model Kemmis dan Mc. Taggart yang terdiri dari empat komponen, yaitu (1) Perencanaan, (2) Pelaksanaan tindakan, (3) Observasi, dan (4) Refleksi. Penelitian ini dilakukan dalam dua siklus. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan metode penemuan terbimbing dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 9 Palu pada materi Teorema Pythagoras melalui langkah-langkah sebagai berikut: (1) perumusan masalah, guru memberikan informasi pokok-pokok materi dan memberikan LKS kepada siswa; (2) pemrosesan data dan penyusunan konjektur, siswa mengamati, menalar dan mencoba mengerjakan LKS secara berkelompok serta menyusun konjektur dari LKS yang dikerjakan; (3) pemeriksaan konjektur, guru memeriksa hasil konjektur siswa dan memberikan alasan terhadap konjektur siswa yang melakukan kesalahan; (4) verbalisasi konjektur, siswa mempresentasikan hasil kerja kelompoknya di depan kelas; dan (5) umpan balik, guru memberikan soal latihan kepada siswa.

ABSTRACT: The purpose of this study is to describe the application of guided discovery method which can improve students’ learning results in the Pythagorean theorem material at class VIII SMP Negeri 9 Palu. Subjects in this study were students VIII SMP Negeri 9 Palu. This research design refers to the model Kemmis and Mc. Taggart which consists of four components: (1) Planning, (2) Implementation of the action, (3) Observation, and (4) Reflection. This research was conducted in two cycles. The research results showed that the applying the guided discovery method can improve students learning outcomes in the Pythagorean theorem material  at Class VIII SMP Negeri 9 Palu through the following steps: (1) formulation of the problem, teachers provide information points materials and worksheets to students; (2) data processing and preparation of conjecture, students observe, reason and try to do the worksheets in groups and formulate a conjecture of worksheets is done; (3) examination conjecture, teachers examine the results of a conjecture of students and provide a reason to conjecture that students make mistakes; (4) verbalization conjecture, students presented the results of group work in front of the class; and (5) feedback, teachers give practice questions to students.
