Publication Ethics
The Elementary School of Education Journal (ESEJ) upholds scientific publications ethics as the basis of academic integrity. These ethics bind all parties involved in the journal publication process, including authors, editors, peer reviewers, and journal managers.
This ethics policy refers to the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and LIPI Regulation No. 5 of 2014 concerning the Code of Ethics for Scientific Publication.
✅ Author Responsibilities
1. Originality and Plagiarism:
Authors must ensure that the manuscript is original work, not the result of plagiarism, duplication, or unauthorized translation. All citations must be properly referenced.
2. Authorship:
Only those who have made significant contributions to the research and writing of the manuscript are eligible to be listed as authors. The corresponding author must ensure that all authors approve the final version submitted.
3. Disclosure of Conflicts of Interest:
Authors must declare any potential conflicts of interest, whether financial, institutional, or personal, that may influence the interpretation of research results.
4. Data Access and Retention:
Authors may be asked to provide raw data for editorial verification and must retain the data for a specified period after publication.
5. Compliance with Research Ethics:
Research involving humans must include a statement of ethical approval and informed consent from participants.
✅ Reviewer Responsibilities
1. Objectivity:
Reviews must be conducted objectively and constructively. Personal criticism of authors is not permitted.
2. Confidentiality:
Manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents and must not be shared with others.
3. Conflict of Interest:
Reviewers must decline if there is a conflict of interest that affects the objectivity of the assessment, such as personal or professional relationships with the author.
4. Timeliness:
Reviewers must complete the review within the specified time and inform the editor if they cannot complete it on time.
✅ Editor Responsibilities
1. Publication Decisions:
Editors are responsible for deciding which manuscripts to publish based on scientific quality and review results.
2. Fairness:
Editors must evaluate manuscripts based on their content without regard to the author's race, gender, religion, nationality, or institutional affiliation.
3. Confidentiality:
Editors must not disclose any information about submitted manuscripts to anyone other than the authors, reviewers, or editorial team.
4. Handling of Plagiarism and Ethical Violations:
Editors must actively follow up on allegations of ethical violations, including plagiarism, data fabrication, or citation manipulation, and work with relevant parties to resolve them fairly.
⚠️ Sanctions and Article Retraction
If ethical violations are proven, such as:
• Plagiarism
• Fabrication or falsification of data
• Dual publication
• Manipulation of peer review
Then ESEJ reserves the right to take the following actions:
• Rejection or retraction of the article
• Official notification to the author's affiliation
• Prohibition of article submissions from the violator for a certain period of time
