This study describes efforts to improve the mathematics learning outcomes of second-grade students at SD Inpres Kalukubula, specifically on addition and subtraction material, through the implementation of the Discovery Learning model. The background of this study is the low level of students’ understanding of basic arithmetic concepts, as indicated by the number of students who had not yet achieved the Minimum Mastery Criteria (KKM). The research employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach using the Kemmis and McTaggart model, conducted over two cycles consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The subjects of the study were 28 students. Data were collected through achievement tests, observations, and documentation. The results showed a significant improvement in each cycle. The average pre-cycle score of 55% increased to 76.67% in Cycle I and reached 91% in Cycle II, with mastery levels rising from 48% to 71% and finally 91%. These findings indicate that the Discovery Learning model is effective in enhancing students’ addition and subtraction skills and fostering more meaningful, student-centered learning experiences.
